Spring-Summer Musings

I have been watching the House Finches in their housekeeping manner around my geranium hanging baskets and yes, they have done it again. After a successful hatching of 5 baby birds in May, there is another nest this a.m. with 3 eggs. I will, of course, leave it alone and let "nature take its course!" And no water to the plant during this critical time, so the plant will be disposed of when the "birthing" has taken place. Yes, I call it a birthing. 8-))
We have just returned from Ireland, and the hardest part of the voyage is from London to the West Coast of the US, a good(did I say good??) 10 hours at 37,000 feet, feeling like you are completely removed from Earth, but the trip is well worth it, as we spend time with our Daughter's family and our neat Grandsons. That is the 'frosting on the cake." It was indeed a wonderful visit there in the land of the Shamrocks. What a beautiful, green, friendly country. We shall return again and again. Oh on the long flight, our Kindle and iPad kept us sane(well kinda sane!).
The photo above is one of my 'artsy' ones, a post box, attached to a wall in a small country community in Ireland. I liked it, the colors and the 'artsy-ness'! Now is that a word:'artsy-ness'? I think so for this blogger. Anyway, I like the photo a lot!! I had walked down the narrow country street with my Daughter as she was about to mail a letter.
The Ocean has spoken today with a marine layer of clouds coming in from the sea. It is a cool summer day and very nice.
My Wife has a summer birthday, and I love to burden upon her countless gifts, which she always says are "overdone", but is it really possible to overdo a birthday of a loved one?? In my opinion no. We will have what I call a second birthday party for her in a couple of days here, and of course it will be, in her words, "Overdone!" Well that is life. I find it one of my privileges as the Husband to do the "Overdone thing!" 8-))
The tomato garden is exceptional and there is fruit on the vine. How great is that, from one coming from a long line of farmers in Indiana, many years ago. We shall soon enjoy them and my Wife will be making that fantastic "Parmesan Tomato" recipe she so well prepares. I can hardly wait.
Well it is time to head over to the nearby Bakery and pick up the Birthday Cake(2nd Party-Overdone!) 8-))) for the Party tomorrow. It is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and her name written on the top!! How great is that. I know: Overdone!! That is me!! My middle name is now: "Overdone" in most things I do.
Oh well, keep looking up in life and enjoy everyday. Someone said, "Today is the beginning of the rest of your life!" Written by Overdone! 8-))
